2012, Samsø , Denmark
For a workshop in the island of Samsø, Denmark, 11 internationally renowned artists were invited to work for 14 days in dialogue with local artists and professionals from the concrete industry. They created 11 new works of art, which were added to Samsø's already existing sculpture collection on Betonruten. The workshop offered new and surprising possibilities in the use of cement / concrete.
The framework for the workshop itself is an old factory that has through time produced bricks and roof tiles. Today, the factory can not compete with larger factories and does not operate as such. But all the machines and facilities are still there, for artists who have a different approach to the material to use.
