NEW WORKS

HVERFISGALLERY,

2014, Reykjavik, Iceland

"These pieces are created from found furniture," says Guðjón Ketilsson, about the sculptures at the exhibition in Hverfisgalleri.  In the artist's work, the furniture has been transformed into a beautifully renovated apartment building; huge blocks with regular windows.
"I have actually been looking for my parents' generation furniture. The game of proportions and scale, which appears in the works, is reminiscent of the worlds that one created as a boy, where the measurement scale was often a tin soldier. Then the duvet changed into a sea and the pillow became a mountain."
