INSIGHTS

THE HERRING FACTORY

2011, Hjalteyri, Iceland

Exhibitors: Eygló Harðardóttir, Guðjón Ketilsson, Guðrún Pálína Guðmundsdóttir, Joris Rademaker and Jón Laxdal.

Guðjón Ketilsson´s wall drawing Paths is a text-chart mapping the artist´s stream of thoughts from the perspective of an urban dweller, as he moves through the streets of Reykjavík.

In a sparse, stream-of-consciousness prose, the psycho-geographical narrative, written/drawn with ink directly onto a wall, traces the artist´s course as he sets out from home on a walk, becoming distracted by various encounters, interruptions and conflicting decisions. Written in Icelandic in capital letters without spaces between words, the lines of Ketilsson´s thought-map meander and intersect until the artist reaches home.
